Sharon Osborne criticises 'ignorant' people for not wanting Saara Aalto to win X FactorFROM THE TOPIC ENTERTAINMENT Sharon Osborne says people who don't want Saara to win The X Factor because she's not British are "ignorant". The Finnish singer is the favourite to win this weekend but some viewers are campaigning for Matt Terry or 5 After Midnight to win instead. "It's so small time," says her mentor, Mrs O. "It's like saying you shouldn't buy The Weeknd's album because he's from Canada." Despite that, Saara Aalto says she feels accepted in the UK. "I was a bit like an outsider coming from Finland," she admits. "[But] gradually people started to love my voice and starting voting and started to see who I am." Finland is an amazing country but there are only five million people there. Is Saara Aalto The Only One That Can Save This Series Of The X Factor? 09/12/2016 15:51 James Brinsford Writer & Blogger who loves to comment about TV, music & entertainment It is fair to say that this series of The X Factor hasn’t been an exceptional one but there is a chance that it could still provide one of its greatest winners to date. ...Simon Cowell might try and label some of Saara’s performances as cheesy but she is looking to be a pop artist! The whole genre of pop music borders on cheesy at the best of times and even Simon has to admit, Saara at her best is bordering on becoming the new Lady Gaga. It would be ironic that in the year of Brexit that the viewers are looking to crown a Finnish singer as their best in show but it goes to show that real talent can transcend all boundaries. Simon was claiming that keeping Honey G in the process was because she brought something unique and different to the show but he had that all along with Saara... and she could actually sing too! X Factor 2016: Saara’s Journey – From “Abroad” To AdoredPosted by Andrew There’s an archetype of auditions on shows like this, in which an auditionee is initially portrayed as self-deluded or otherwise weird, but turns out to be vocally brilliant and wins everyone over. Saara did this not only in her audition, but over and over and over again. It’s been one of the most remarkable journeys in X Factor history for an act currently celebrating Finland’s Independence Day and planning to make the UK her adopted home. Matt, Saara or 5 After Midnight? Who will win The X Factor 2016?Caroline Westbrook for Metro.co.ukSaturday 10 Dec 2016 12:02 am SAARA AALTOHer X Factor story so far: The 29-year-old Finnish singer wowed the judges at her original audition with her rendition of Sia’s Chandelier – even prompting Nicole to tell her: ‘My ass wants to clap for you.’ (erm). Her X Factor journey looked to be over when she missed out on judges’ houses at the Six Chair Challenge – only to be brought back as a wild card and sail through to the live shows. She narrowly missed out on elimination after being in the bottom two for the first two weeks – only to turn things around for herself a week later thanks to a thoroughly kooky performance of Bjork’s It’s Oh So Quiet. Since then she’s gone from strength to strength, leaving the judges stunned with some very impressive performances in recent weeks – and she’s gone from being one of the outsiders to being the favourite to win. The question is, can she do it? Reasons why she could win: We can’t remember the last time we saw an X Factor finalist who’s reversed their fortunes quite as spectacularly as Saara – and she’s done it by slowly winning the audience over with performances which have been both quirky and seriously impressive. And then there’s that vocal range. She’s a force to be reckoned with as far as we’re concerned. Reasons why she might not win: It’s a very close competition this year, and given that Matt Terry’s been the favourite to win all the way through (until Saara overtook him in the betting just days ago), she’s still going to have to work hard to clinch that record deal. Saara Aalto, obviouslyBy Rebecca Hawkes 9 DECEMBER 2016 • 8:41PM For longterm X Factor fans – especially the increasingly rare sort of fans who actually buy the winner’s single, enthusiastically vote for their favourite performers and still, rather touchingly, think of the show as a “singing competition” – 2016 was a confusing year. ...Thank God (or thank Finland, rather ) for the defiantly different Saara Aalto. Saara Aalto's latest interview in Finnish: yle.fi/uutiset/3-9344071--- X Factor 2016: Finnish fans are voting for Saara Aalto but it's 'not a problem'Posted December 9, 2016 23:22 by Josh Darvill An ITV spokesperson has revealed that votes from the country have been recorded, despite it being only those in the UK who are meant to be able to vote. However, the spokesperson also said that the votes were so few that they amounted to "well under” one per cent and there they had "not affected the outcome of any of the votes in the series".That's not too surprising given the population of sparse Finland is around half of just London here in the UK. Earlier this week it was reported that the singer's shock turnaround has prompted a look into voting figures to see if Finnish fans were using a 'loophole' to vote from outside the UK. “Saara was in the bottom two early in the competition but has now gone straight to being the favourite," a source told The Sun newspaper last weekend. “Nobody is saying she hasn’t got a brilliant voice and that is why the judges have kept her in the show — because of her performances. ...A spokesperson for The X Factor confirmed they had looked into voting irregularities but there was no evidence of if changing the results. Saara Aalto’s ‘results face’ has been the best thing about The X Factor 2016Caroline Westbrook for Metro.co.uk Saturday 10 Dec 2016 6:11 pm So just what has been the best thing about The X Factor 2016? The cracking performances? Honey G’s gold tracksuit? That bit when Louis Walsh showed off an Irish jig?Well no, actually. As far as we’re concerned the highlight of the series has been seeing the look of amazement on Saara Aalto’s face every time she makes it through the Sunday results show. If you’re one of those people who has chosen to spend Sundays watching The X Factor instead of Planet Earth, then you’ll be familiar with this of course. But in case you’re not, or you’ve managed to miss this bit, let’s just say the Finnish favourite has been getting a little – er – over-excited – and it’s all been oddly charming. X Factor’s Saara Aalto: ‘Honey G is my inspiration!’Jack White 10:00 am - 10/12/16 The Finnish diva talks to Now ahead of The X Factor final… After ending up in the bottom two twice in as many weeks, it really looked like Saara Aalto’s X Factor journey would be over quicker than it began. But then came diva week and the Finland native blew everyone away. An incredible performance of Björk’s It’s Oh So Quiet cemented her position as a serious contender and introduced the public to the real Saara. By week four, almost accidentally, it seemed, she had reinvented herself as UK TV’s answer to Lady Gaga. In our exclusive chat, the 29-year-old opens up about life-changing moments, why she brings something different to the show and this year’s biggest talking point: Honey G. What about Matt Terry?10TH DECEMBER 2016 BY Nick Barnes ...What is interesting is that Matt Terry has been the absolute favourite to win throughout the whole series. We’re not just talking from the first live show, either…. ever since his initial audition Matt has been one of the favourites to win. Really, up until last week he was certain to win, but over the past 2 or 3 weeks, Saara has shaken the competition up and has given some INCREDIBLE performances. Saara is an entertainer, she’s versatile, and she has a fantastic voice. There’s just something we love about her, and it’d be fantastic if she won the show tomorrow night. Having said that, there is no denying how amazing Matt Terry’s voice is, and he’s consistently given flawless performances throughout, so we’d like to see Matt win as well. Either way, Saara and Matt are deserving winners, and we’d like to see both of them signed either way the vote goes.
