Perhaps the biggest classical crossover collaboration of the year, Rebecca Newman, Mary-Jess, Eden, Mariette Davina, Scarlett Quigley and Danielle Thomas will be joining together for a concert at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, York on 6th September at 2pm. It promises to be a fantastic afternoon. York is well connected by rail, making a day-trip quite possible from many parts of the UK.

A truly magnificent line up of talent from the classical crossover genre taking part in the same concert for just £16 for a standard ticket. Now that must be the best bargain of the year

From Robert Scullen's FB post www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=856931477652689&set=a.350696661609509.93907.100000075339858&type=1&theater Love York Every once in a while a concert comes along that is an event not too be missed. Well that time has come and it will be taking place at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre inYork on Saturday 6 September 2014 at 2pm. Seven of our finest sopranos are gathering to raise funds for the Children’s Charity ‘Educate the World UK’ in a ‘Songbirds’ Concert. The cost of a standard ticket is just £16 and for that you are guaranteed over 2 hours of world class entertainment. There will be something for all music tastes as all of the artists taking part offer something entirely unique in their song selection, originality and musical style. Tickets are now on sale and you are recommended to order them sooner rather than later as the concert is expected to sell out very quickly. You can order your tickets online through Rebecca Newman’s (the York based Peoples Soprano) website here: www.rebeccanewman.co.uk/shop/The Songbirds: Rebecca Newman: Often called the 'Peoples Soprano', Rebecca has established a reputation inYork that is second to none due to her fabulous soprano voice and her interaction with the general public. Rebecca has recently supported both Russell Watson and Aled Jones on their recent tours and has also headlined her own UK tours. In February, Rebecca became the first British and first Classical singer to win $10,000 on the global social music site Artist Signal. Rebecca recently recorded a Yorkshire Peoples Anthem of her song ‘Heroes to World’ to welcome the Tour de France to Yorkshire. This Peoples Anthem consisted of over 1000 voices across Yorkshire. Her Christmas single ‘Wonderful Dream (Holidays are Coming)’ also went viral on You Tube in 2013. Rebecca was also chosen as an Anthem Singer for the recent Rugby League World Cup matches. Rebecca’s new album ‘Dare to Dream’ is due out very soon and will feature duets with Blake and Mary-Jess Leaverland. Rebecca has independently released several albums (selling over 15,000) and raised thousands of pounds for her favourite charities RNLI and Child Line.http://www.rebeccanewman.co.uk/ www.youtube.com/rnewmanyorkEden: A superb female duo comprising of Libby Johnstone and Lucy Campbell. Eden have performed to full houses all over the world which have included performances for Prince Albert of Monaco and Michael Ball. Their harmonious voices complement each other perfectly offering a unique blend of music and song selection that will appeal to all music tastes. Eden create and produce their own arrangements and are indeed a classical crossover act with a difference as they specialise in classical/pop crossover. They are the only artists to focus on modern music by artists such as Robbie Williams, Metallica, Heart and Take That giving modern songs a classical twist but also being able to offer audiences traditional classical music and musical theatre. Eden are shortly to release their follow up album which will be the first time that a classical crossover act has released a double CD. The album entitled ‘Wicked Game’ will feature a great mix of traditional classical and modern songs and you can listen to examples of some of these on their brand new website. Knowing of these lovely song birds what a treat all in one event , the amount of fine delightful personalities of the number of CC singers in London alone is amazing indeed , the UK is so blessed to be able to attend so many concerts and events at so reasonable cost is really a sign of people there enjoying the finer music to hear plus the girls are all so petty as well , Congrats to the singers and well done , wished to be there .

Another video from Scarlett Scarlett Quigley - Footage from Songbirds 2014 --- Scarlett's blog article Scarlett SopranoThe blog of Scarlett Quigley young soprano SongbirdsPosted on September 11, 2014 After months of talking and planning I could not believe that the day had finally arrived for The Songbirds concert that I was to be a part of. It was about a year ago that a great supporter of classical crossover music, Robert Scullen had a dream of a concert that would feature some of his favourite artists. To have been included in this list of artists is just awesome in itself. What was even more special was that the concert would be in aid of Educate The World which I have recently become UK Patron for. This was to be the first time so many classical crossover artists would be performing in the same concert. Here are all the performers who I was to be in concert with. ... Mary-Jess explains how she came to be involved in the Songbirds concert. "I was asked to perform for this show by my Facebook fan group manager, Robert Scullen, so I was thrilled when my diary allowed me to participate," she says. "He's been such a great support to me but he lives in Australia and is coming over to the UK for three weeks. He's helping to organise the concert with the charity founder, Dean Brockway. It's my way of saying 'thank you' for everything he has done. It also means I get to perform with York's Rebecca Newman, whose forthcoming album Dare To Dream includes a special duet we've recorded together." ...
