Hey guys, After I come back from holiday I will remove a few profiles. Because I have so little time and the more profiles there are, the more pressure there is to keep more up to date, I thought removing dormant profiles would ease it a bit, not to mention that they are cluttering up the website and potentially taking attention away from artists who are active and popular. The criteria for deletion is unique to each profile but the rough guideline is the following (they would need to tick two or more boxes) - Inactive artist - No purchasable music after a year on the site - Failed to make an impact on CCUK audience after a year on the site - Faltering career/not clear what direction they are going in - Very little or no contribution to the CC genre - One "hit" wonder (or more accurately "one flop wonder") If the artist has released an album on a major label, it's likely that their album/s hold some significance to the history of the CC genre (though not always), so it's unlikely their profile will ever be deleted (e.g. Charlotte Church, Amici Forever, Angelis) My drafted list is as follows: Joseph McManners Mike Christie Neal E Boyd Lucy Noble Donald Braswell Brianna Kahane Chase Gutierrez Elizabeth Tryon Joanna Marie Skillett Feel free to give me your thoughts on this. And just to let you know what ensures an artists safety on the site:
- Significant contribution to CC music
- In the top fifty of the voting charts
- Has user trophies
- Having a major record contract at some point (unless they had one album and it offered nothing new and was a flop)
- Active fan base among CCUK and its social networks
So if the artist does tick two or more boxes of criteria to be deleted, that would be cancelled out if any of the above also applies to them.

Hi Nic, I respect your choices, but why Donald? He's been active since his came back on AGT, and is currently working on his fourth album. As you've mentioned on his profile, he also writes much of his works. So I don't get it...  |

He comes under "failed to make an impact on CCUK audience" and as an indie artist, he is not contributing to CC on a wide scale or adding to its history. Donald is the second least viewed profile on the entire site - the only person below him is Chris Mann who has only been on the site for a few months (if that?). Donald has been on the site for over two years. It's only a drafted list and I put them up in the hopes that it may renew some interest in the listed artists. If the artist isn't capable of doing that then it's pointless them being here. |

Mike Christie has an ongoing programme of concerts and released an album last year. Details are on his website. I bought the album a few weeks ago and keep meaning to go to one of his concerts, but haven't made it yet.  Joanna Marie seems to be making a career for herself in small operatic productions, but that is really outside the CC genre. It's a shame her promised album never materialised. I don't know much about the others.  |

Nicola, I agree with the list that you suggest, but I think there might be more artists that could be added. There is a lot of new talent wanting to be listed and if an artist has moved on to different things, then maybe they need to be de-listed to make room.

Taylor Caruso Kirk - She is more focused on a classical opera and has not really released anything since her first CD years age. I vote for her as a means of encouragement, but it doesn't seem to have worked.
Escala really doesn't seem to be a group anymore. They released the one CD and that seems to have been it.
Three Graces same as above. I don't think they are still together. They released the one CD and that seems to have been it.
Hazlitt - I know she is new but she doesn't seem to have much fan support. She is another one that I vote for and it seems that each day I cast the next vote. She has yet to hit 100 votes.

Amy Nuttall is a successul actress now, appearing in Downton Abbey. She definitely has moved on from classical crossover music.

I keep waiting for an album release from Ki Fitzgerald, Bad Boy of Opera, but it keeps getting postponed from 2011 to 2012 and now to 2013. With only 23 votes, I don't think he has any fan base.

Nicola, you mentioned you would not remove someone with User Trophies. In Bay Boy of Opera's case, he has 10 User Trophies. I don't understand why that is significant if the artist has done nothing else for classical crossover music.

Most of the artists suggested here did go on my consideration list, but I'll tell you why I ruled them out. Bonnie, it's because somebody could have PAID money for the user trophies. When money is involved it gets more complicated. We will be reviewing that situation when we get back. We're leaving in... 30 mins?! (I NEED TO GET OFF HERE!) And Bad Boy of Opera has just signed to a record label and the release will actually happen. He has been keeping me up to date. He has been taking so long because he didn't want to launch without label support. I ummed and ahhed about Three Graces. They are definitely not together anymore - the vocalists have moved on to different projects, but I thought the album different enough to keep them on. Nobody has recorded an album like they have or taken such an angle. Escala were also on my list, but they are still together and the music still plays and gets used commercially. Amy Nuttall released an EXCELLENT album. I know she is gone but I think it's worth keeping her up so as to introduce people to her album. She was with EMI who always flop but do release good albums. Hazlitt hasn't been on long enough. I give them time because it sometimes just takes one person to discover them and spread the word. Such is the case for Keedie. She was the first profiled and it was only a few months ago that people started voting and talking about her. I thought Taylor was recording? She still e-mails me with updates. And she's not opera. If she's opera, I would have to remove people like Izzy, Natasha Marsh and Alessandro Safina. All artist focus on different areas of classical crossover - some are really pop (Josh Groban) and some are really classical (Natasha Marsh), but they are still crossover. |

I know that you are in closer contact with the artists, so I agree with you thoughts for keeping the artists listed, with one exception. The 3 Graces. Their album was released in 2008 and their web site has not been updated since 2008. That is 5 years ago since they done anything as a group.

Enjoy your holiday, forget about all this for a while and just relax and enjoy yourselves, you deserve it!
No matter who you decide to remove somebody is going to object! You know the artists better than any of us and you know what is happening to them, we don't. So, I think this had better be your decision. If all of us keep giving our opinions, we will drive you crazy like we do so often!
I'm delighted Ki Fitzgerald is really going to release an album! For some reason, I liked him from the first time I came on the site. I don't really know why but I have always wished he would succeed. I would much rather he use his name but that's just my preference.
