Andrea Bocelli opened the show last night with 'Amazing Grace'.
Interesting note in the programme "It has been estimated that Amazing Grace is sung around ten million times every year."
Andrea also received an award for 'International Artist of The Year', presented by Andrew Lloyd Webber. He was nominated for two other awards - 'Album of the Year' and 'Male Artist', both for his album 'Concerto - One Night in Central Park', but those went to others.
Other Classical Crossover artists involved in the evening were:-
Aled Jones - presented one of the awards (can't remember which, but I am sure Mindda will remind me ).
Hayley Westenra - nominated for her album 'Paradiso'. Hayley also featured on the winning album, singing 'Dreaming of New Zealand' on André Rieu's 'And the Waltz Goes On'.
Laura Wright - nominated for her album 'The Last Rose'.
Myleene Klass - presenter for the evening.
Noah Stewart - nominated for 'Breakthrough Artist of the Year' and for his album 'Noah'.
Russell Watson - nominated for his album 'Anthems'. Russell also performed 'Race to the End' (Chariots of Fire theme) with Amore providing backing vocals.
Amongst the highlights for me were Ramin Karamloo and Sierra Boggess with two songs from Phantom of the Opera, and Nicola Benedetti playing the theme from Schindler's List. My top spot of the evening though was a medley of John Williams film themes played by the London Chamber Orchestra, together with clips from films including Star Wars, Harry Potter, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, ET and more.
John Williams was the recipient of this year's Lifetime Achievement Award.
