There's a cynical part of me that thinks that artists can just say 'I have number one classical single' in their press releases, but it actually doesn't mean much. Like the Classical albums chart, you need not sell thousands to top it - for the singles, I think it will only need to be a couple of hundred. It's making more of a fuss of a sale than it actually is. HOWEVER, like they say in the video, it's a good idea to measure how well a classical single is doing "within the classical capacity" and it will make classical more accessible to people on places like iTunes and Amazon if the songs are available in their own chart. It will have it's own complications just like the albums chart - what counts as classical? The good news for us, for we can tell the difference, this is basically going to be a classical crossover chart, isn't it?! Not many pure classical artists release singles. I think this is something we can follow - it might even be something worth publishing on the website every week - the only issue is that it's UK only.

The problem is (as with the actual charts as well) technically, every track on an album can be classed as a single, so really what it's more likely to show is what classical piece or song is doing well. Still, it may only be UK, but it's a start right? This is the second newest chart that they've started this year (the first being the streaming chart). Oh and it is only a top 20. Anyhoo, seeing as the first chart is out, it's pretty much looking like Jubilee fever is responsible for most entries: God Save The Queen is UK's first Official Classical Singles Chart Number 1Top 20 Classicial SinglesHuggles Vhari x

So does that mean the singles chart can be full of one album if all tracks count?!

From what I understand, that could be a possibility, but I think that would only happen if people were buying each track individually (why anyone would do that though when it costs more...) rather thank buying the album as a whole (which would probably then add to an album sale rather than a 'single' sale)
Take Katherine's track I Vow To Thee My Country. From what I can see it's available on an album called Now That's What I Call Britain, Living a Dream & The Ultimate Collection. What they may be doing is collorating all the downloads of that one track regardless of album.
A brief look at the chart makes me think that 6/7 of the tracks could be coming from the album Now That's What I Call Britain (I find it a little difficult that that album was released Monday and that number of tracks appear in the first chart, no?)
