I was late turning on Songs of Praise last Sunday, but was there just in time to see Laura singing, accompanied by Rick Wakeman.

And here is Laura singing at a recent Alfie Boe concert (once she could get a word in edgeways ). Methinks I have heard that tune from Laura before, but where are all the angelic harmonies?

Laura's second album 'Glorious' is to be released on 21st May From her website Not sure that the tracklist really breaks the mould from her first album.

Thanks Vhazza! I downloaded the track. John - I think my reaction to that tracklist is very predictable. Needless to say, it's unlikely I'll be buying that album.

At the begin of a solo career they can not take a risk. She has to sell CDs and earn money.
I like her voice and will buy the album.

Since her debut sold less than 20,000, which was a boring and predictable album (with it on supermarket shelves and played to death on Classic FM - it should have sold a lot more), I don't think there's much difference between taking a risk or not, in terms of sales. The next one is obviously to tap into the jubilee - whether it will sell or not with no Christmas, Mother's Day or Father's Day to speak of remains to be seen. Blake didn't really sell much of their wedding single which had plenty of coverage so I'll be interested to see if associating music with royalty is something that's actually worthwhile.
So much effort is being put into Laura (lots of publicity), I think Decca are thinking Alfie Boe type sales... I hope it happens because I love Laura's voice, and I want it put to good use, rather than the same old boring traditional songs. But then, I guess I am not Laura's target audience...

For the most musicians it is hard. The music market is to overcrowded.
For male artists it is maybe more easy.

I was just checking out Laura's new website design and after reading her updated bio I noticed that, "boring" and predictable as it is, the tracklisting of Glorious actually makes *much more sense* as a marketing move when you realize all of the songs were "themed" around the Diamond Jubilee. So there *was* some very intentional thought behind choosing some of the "same old songs."

I'm going to see Laura in concert next Wednesday at Ipswich. I've only seen her at one event previously, which was 'The Next Brit Thing' at the Indigo2 earlier in the year, and her role there was as a judge, helping to decide who the winners of the contest should be. It'll be nice to actually hear her sing this time!
