Jackie Evancho’s first and only Kentucky performance will be at the Lancaster Grand Theatre. At only 10 years of age, the purity and power of Jackie Evancho’s voice on the television show
America’s Got Talent gained Jackie worldwide recognition. She was immediately signed to Columbia Records where she has released a string of successful recordings in classical crossover music, including O Holy Night (certified Platinum), Dream With Me (certified Gold), and three Billboard 200 top 10 debuts. She has collaborated with the legendary Barbra Streisand and pop singer Susan Boyle, as well as having worked with producer David Foster.
Additional accomplishments to date – now at the age of 15! – include being the world’s youngest performer to enter the Billboard charts at No. 1, as well as being the youngest performer to sing a solo recital at the Lincoln Center. Jackie performed before 100,000 people in Russia with opera stars Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Sumi Jo prior to the opening of the St. Petersburg Economic Forum and performed in Japan before the Royal Family at the Imperial Palace. Her first PBS Special was one of the top pledge-producing performances in PBS history. In December 2014 she was selected to participate in the lighting of the National Christmas Tree in Washington, D.C., and she was most recently on stage at the Royal Paragon Hall in Bangkok, Thailand in April, 2015, appearing with Italian classical tenor Andrea Bocelli.
Jackie made her movie debut in Robert Redford’s 2013 film, “The Company You Keep,” alongside Susan Sarandon, Shia LeBeouf and Nick Nolte. Redford directed and played her father in the thriller. She was also commissioned by HBO to sing the theme song for their popular series Game of Thrones.
Jackie will be accompanied by members of the University of Kentucky Symphony Orchestra for her performance at the Lancaster Grand Theatre,. This is a Central Kentucky event that is not to be missed. Part of her charm is her age – but her talent is ageless.

From Curt: www.kentucky.com/entertainment/music-news-reviews/article45474969.htmlJackie Evancho will perform at the Lancaster Grand Theatre on Nov. 21, 2015. Courtesy of the Artist By Rich Copley rcopley@herald-leader.com At 15, Jackie Evancho has had a career most singers would love to have. After gaining worldwide attention at age 10 on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, she was signed to Columbia Records; performed for the President; sang on some of the world’s most storied stages and had three specials on PBS, to name a few things. But she tries not to think about it. “It still hasn’t hit me,” Evancho says. “I don’t like to wake up from my dreams, because it would be too overwhelming.” Avoiding that overwhelming reality is not too hard for Evancho because of the speed at which things are happening for her. “I’ve lived my life pretty fast,” she says, “so a lot of it just zips by.” Her fast-moving career pulls into the Lancaster Grand Theatre on Saturday night, where she will perform with members of the University of Kentucky Symphony Orchestra. At 15, Evancho is to starting to think about what she wants to do after high school, and she says, “I definitely want to go to college. It’s always fun to learn more. I have thought about going to NYU (New York University) to study psychology. I definitely want to study some music.” But maybe being a music major would be a bit redundant for a student who already has a highly successful music career. She hits the Bluegrass as the holiday season is heating up, which is somewhat appropriate as her career has numerous ties to the Christmas season. Her first release for Columbia was a seasonal EP, O Holy Night, which she promoted heavily during the 2010 holiday season with appearances that included the Christmas tree lightings at New York’s Rockefeller Center and in Washington D.C. She followed up in 2011 with Heavenly Christmas. Asked about her Lancaster appearance, Evancho said the audience can probably expect some of her holiday favorites, along with other hits from her now-five-album career. And Evancho is conscious there are audience expectations. She is considered a classical-crossover artist and many of her albums have hit No. 1 on the Billboard classical charts. She first grabbed attention singing operatic arias and church music. That said, her personal tastes run a gamut from The Beatles to Eminem to Marilyn Manson. Like many listeners her age, Evancho says, “our generation is more accepting of different styles, and genre is whatever we like.” But she is not applying that to her career, so don’t be looking for the Jackie Evancho metal or hip-hop album. “My audience falls into a specific category,” she says. “They have learned what to expect from me, and I wouldn’t want disappoint them.”

The last line will be interesting in near future ? imo her audience has listen to country , pop an classical cross-over so perhaps she need not disappoint , not sure of the sales of last album . yea other then ben I first person out of 474 views to care enough to make a comment We can thank ben from Curt by Rich Copley , thanks guys , "" not disappoint "" I guess one could say Miss Brightman did not as she sang CC most of her career I believe but then a Miss Taylor did as she disappointed country fans when she went to pop , not sure if a artist should do what is best for them rather the fans but what do I know , time will tell as it tells all ps Specific Category ?? she lost me there , maybe one can tell me what that means , classical ? a percent of her songs are or fans of a certain age group ? hi ben , help me out here In one article I read recently, the genre for Jackie's singing was designated as 'pop-opera'. For both Sarah and Jackie, I personally favor the term 'classical-crossover'.
At some retail stores, Jackie's CDs are in the 'pop' bins. I don't know about Sarah's.
Perhaps the term 'classical' is used to include anything from opera to popular music--- which includes singers and musicians--- arranged in an orchestral style.
By the way, I have the distinct feeling that we have talked about this before.

Colin's description of a special pre-concert reception:
With Jackie's brief appearance at the pre-concert reception, I think that we can say that this is the first fan gathering that Jackie has shown up to. This was an official reception and not a fan-organized gathering, but we looked at it as our fan gathering, and Jackie showed up. Another first! By the time I thought to get my camera, Jackie was on her way out. But it was quite a thrill to turn around and see her there, about 15 feet away. It was a nice reception. There was some food set up. Not really meant to be a dinner, but it was enough for me. And there was punch & wine.
'kringle's short comment about it:
At the reception and we got a quick surprise visit from Jackie, Mike and Jackie's friend. She caught us off-guard so no one got a picture but Jackie thanked everyone for coming and hoped we enjoy the show. So nice of her to do that.
Thank you, gentlemen!
