Good diplomatic answer from Jackie about it. However, the ironic and sad fact is .... "the trolls" are mainly LGBQs who now somehow consider Jackie a "turncoat" for singing the National Anthem at the Inauguration because they hate Trump. What a mess. But very representative of the type of issues so viciously dividing the citizens of the United States today; ie cultural and moral issues and dilemmas which are upstream of ... and always at the heart of all politics. Jackie to me, on the occasion of the Inauguration of a U.S. President and leader of the free world, by singing its National Anthem as beautifully as very few of its citizens can, will represent to a terribly divided Nation ...... why and how its healing must soon begin.

I agree Ben!
The latest news media "spin" yesterday (or "headline grabber") is "Trump Singer has Transgender Sister", or similar. The negative posters on her social media are saying that Jackie is throwing her under the bus or something, which she clearly never would do.
The E's long have rotated family members on trips for company; Rachel has been with her the latest trip. Sometimes multiple family members at big events. I wonder if Juliet will be at the Inauguration?
If so expect even more press attention and interviews with them both. I guess they would talk about wanting acceptance and accommodation. The president-elect (besides getting a singer) may want to be seen as being accommodating.
In 2009 and early 2010 Jackie used to travel with Pennsylvania State Senator Orie to her various events requiring the National Anthem be sung. It was mutually beneficial, as Jackie would sing (beautifully) the National Anthem, and she would gain some exposure.
This trip should also be mutually beneficial. I certainly don't agree with the fear and hate being spewed onto Jackie's social media. But there is some truth in the saying "All publicity is good publicity", and Jackie will rise above all of this, knowing her character.
Juliet chose to "come out" publicly by travelling with Jackie to the Lyme Gala in NYC last year. So I'm betting Juliet will be there. Don edited

If some prefer that no one should sing at the new president's inauguration, they don't realise how bad that would be for everyone. The LBGT community and others critical should relax. Jackie's singing is an endorsement of nothing other than the country has a new leader and the ship of state rolls on. Donald Trump has a lot of strong opinions, as are there strong opinions of all kinds about him. When the spotlight falls on Jackie, people will want to know more about her and will learn that she has opinions too, including support for transgender people, Lyme's Disease sufferers and baby seals. She will not so much be there to advance Donald's causes as she will be to advance her own.

www.washingtonpost.com/news/arts-and-entertainment/wp/2016/12/14/why-jackie-evancho-is-an-obvious-choice-to-sing-the-national-anthem-at-the-trump-inauguration/I think this article is very fair and it comes from a newspaper who has been very tough with Trump. From the article: "Presidential inaugural committee spokesman Boris Epshteyn tweeted, “She’s an inspiration for all Americans!” It’s an unsurprising choice for the ceremony following the incredibly contentious election, which has officials preparing for promises of protests and upwards of a million visitors. Singing the national anthem at the inauguration for a figure as polarizing as Trump could be incredibly fraught — especially at a time when something as mundane your choice of cereal can become a political act. Evancho is about as noncontroversial as performers come. Known as a classical crossover singer, she has performed patriotic songs for numerous official Washington ceremonies during the Obama administration, including singing “God Bless America” at this year’s Independence Day celebration on the Mall and performing at the lighting of the National Christmas Tree in 2010." Unfortunately it refuses to show - unless of course you sign up in order to view it! (Ain't gonna happen.) James, here is the article (sans photos and video): We now have our first confirmed performer for Donald Trump’s inauguration next month: Jackie Evancho, a former “America’s Got Talent” star, will sing the national anthem. Evancho announced the news Wednesday on the “Today” show. “I am so excited. It’s going to be awesome,” the 16-year-old soprano said. “I felt really honored to be able to sing for the office. It’s a great honor for me.” Presidential inaugural committee spokesman Boris Epshteyn tweeted, “She’s an inspiration for all Americans!” It’s an unsurprising choice for the ceremony following the incredibly contentious election, which has officials preparing for promises of protests and upwards of a million visitors. Singing the national anthem at the inauguration for a figure as polarizing as Trump could be incredibly fraught — especially at a time when something as mundane your choice of cereal can become a political act. Known as a classical crossover singer, she has performed patriotic songs for numerous official Washington ceremonies during the Obama administration, including singing “God Bless America” at this year’s Independence Day celebration on the Mall and performing at the lighting of the National Christmas Tree in 2010. “That was awesome,” Evancho said Wednesday on NBC. “I got to meet [President Obama]. He’s really nice.” The past two inaugurations featured legend Aretha Franklin, powerhouse Beyoncé and Kelly Clarkson, who, like Evancho, first gained stardom thanks to reality TV. But there have been rumors and reports (denied by the inauguration committee) that organizers are having trouble locking down major entertainers to perform for the January ceremony. Many pop superstars, such as Beyoncé and Katy Perry, openly campaigned or supported Trump rival Hillary Clinton. As demonstrated by this year’s Republican National Convention, where one of the biggest stars was Scott Baio, the GOP has had trouble booking A-list celebrities when much of the entertainment world is left-leaning. Elton John’s spokeswoman adamantly denied that the British singer would perform after a Trump transition member said he would. Garth Brooks, who remained apolitical during the election cycle, had signaled he would be open to it, but Variety reported that the country singer wouldn’t perform after all. And speculation arose that Kanye West — whose recent onstage rants that included support for Trump drew a social-media backlash — would perform during inauguration weekend after the rapper met with Trump on Tuesday in a highly publicized visit. Evancho got her big break as a 10-year-old YouTube sensation who captivated “America’s Got Talent” judges in 2010. At the time, she was a child with an improbably mature, operatic voice. “Did you ever swallow a grownup?” judge Howie Mandel joked at the time. Although she didn’t win that year’s competition, her star rose considerably. That same year, Evancho released “O Holy Night,” which went platinum and was the first of a series of albums to debut in the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s classical crossover chart. Evancho has branched out into other musical styles. She released “Apocalypse” in April, writing on her YouTube page that the single “takes me in a truly pop direction for the first time.” Her “America’s Got Talent” appearances also got her access to VIP venues where she rubbed elbows with the ultra-famous. Evancho performed on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” (where she met Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes backstage). She even went to Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Fla., where she met the resort’s owner: Donald Trump. A picture of Trump and Evancho smiling for the cameras appeared behind her as she spoke Wednesday morning on the “Today” show. Reflecting on her previous singing duties in Washington, Evancho said on Wednesday: “I felt really honored to get a chance to perform for the president again.”

Interview: Jackie Evancho talks about plans to sing at Trump's inaugurationBy Jay Cridlin, Times Pop Music/Culture Critic Friday, December 16, 2016 4:56pm The first words of Jackie Evancho's Instagram profile: "Just a girl." She's 16 and a junior at a public Pittsburgh high school. She just got her first car, a black Mazda CX-3, and is cramming for her SATs. ("I'm going to work really hard on math. I'm really bad at that.") She paints and sketches in AP art, and on Sunday nights watches Westworld and The Walking Dead. But to those learning her name just now, there's one thing about Evancho separating her from every other girl in the world. On Jan. 20, she will sing the national anthem at Donald Trump's presidential inauguration. "It's a huge honor to be singing for my country," the classical crossover singer said by phone from Chicago. Tuesday she performs at Ruth Eckerd Hall, one of her last concerts before Inauguration Day. "It may be one of my most-scrutinized performances. But that's something I can't really think about, or else I'll get psyched out. So I have to think about it like it's going to be another gig." BG, in 20 years Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence will be mainstream, and those who must will live in their own little worlds. But some will find value elsewhere, rejoicing in the talent that humanity sometimes brings, to confirm our worth as a species. Talent like Jackie's.
(excuse the mush n gush, its been a while.)

It would seem that much of the human race has been stuck in the 'virtual' and 'artificial' at least since 475 BC, Robin. Here is proof: Heraclitus, "the weeping philosopher," wringing his hands over the world. (image by Johannes Moreelse) Heraclitus' observation: "The waking have one world in common, whereas each sleeper turns away to a private world of his own."
