Last month while watching on TV Katy Perry performing at the Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show, happened to notice a box of Kellogg’s Special “K” breakfast cereal sitting on my kitchen counter top. Somehow the thought of whether Katy Perry was a special “K” crossed my mind. The fact that her performance was seen by 118.5 million viewers in the U.S. alone, making it the most-watched halftime show ever, according to Nielsen data, does make her special. How many of those viewers will continue to follow her music and become fans remain to be seen. Link to Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show: www.dailymotion.com/video/x2g6jpw

Since beauty is in the eyes or ears or heart of the beholder, one person’s special “K” might not appear as such to other people. But if I am to name one special “K” that most on this forum will agree on, it has to be our beloved JacKie!
From what I could gather, a certain Duchess Kate of Cambridge from jolly ole England is very popular, not only at home, but in some other parts of the world as well. No doubt she is the special “K” to a lot of people.
 Duchess Kate Middleton
Over on State side, two iconic public figures that would remain special for generations to come are of course John F. Kennedy and Dr Martin Luther King Jr.
Other performing artists I have in mind need no introduction. They are the royalty of entertainment world, the very special King Elvis, Prince of Pop Michael JacKson and Queen B- Beyonce Knowles.
While on the subject of special “K’s” of the music industry, want to throw in Casey Kasem, who for close to 30 years, had hosted the venerable radio music countdown program, The American Top 40 radio show. Likewise for Dick ClarK, who hosted American Bandstand for nearly 30 years as well. For the innumerable young gals and guys growing up listening and watching their shows, these 2 industry giants would forever be a special part of their memories. RIP, CK and DC.
 Casey Kasem with MJ
Knowing me, you could feel that I am going to put NBA in the mix! That’s right!!!! With 2 NBA championship rings, 4 regular season MVP Awards and 2 Olympic Gold, LeBron ‘King’ James is indeed a special NBA athlete. So is Kobe Bryant, who gobbled up 5 NBA championship rings, 1 regular season MVP nod and 2 Olympic Gold. Yet you might want to vote for the two big 7 footer Germans for German pride - DirK Nowitzki and Chris Kamen, both NBA All Stars, Members of the German Olympic Team, and DirK also has a NBA championship ring to boot!
I have just run out of cereal. So meanwhile WHO is the Special “K” in your life? Could be a famous person, or could be anybody……........ Your little brother or sister, your partner, a neighbor, a long lost friend, a family member, a co-worker, a chance encounter perhaps……......... Anyone that holds a special place in your heart………..
Please feel free to share.

Ahhh, right now it just has to be Margaret Keys, who spotted me in the street before her show in Windsor (just across the road from Duchess Kate's grandma-in-law's place) last night and came up to give me a hug. She also promised to meet me afterwards, so we had several minutes together at the stage door whilst a veritable Who's Who of British theatrical talent slipped past almost unnoticed. There are some lovely people in classical crossover, and the personal touch goes a long way to fostering fan loyalty. www.margaretkeys.co.uk/www.theatreroyalwindsor.co.uk/details.php?id=330

Sorry, I don't have any inside information and I don't watch TV talent shows, but the impression I get is that classical crossover is not what the judges are looking for. They also let Annelies Kruidenier (another K) slip through without turning.

Other significant K's for me are Camilla Kerslake, Katherine JenKins and Katie Melua.
Then there are my favourite Japanese artists - Kanon, AyaKa Hirahara and Kalafina (a group formed by YuKi Kajiura, comprising WaKana OtaKi, HiKaru Masai and the delightful KeiKo Kubota <3 ).
Not forgetting Yisabel from 'K'orea.

Hers is a voice that I can dig!
BTW hasn't Skyhawk been pushing "the personal touch" thingy like forever?!

He was too absorbed trying to remember the lyrics to What's New Pussycat, as he had a gig elsewhere to do that song right after the show. BTW don't diss Sir Tom, because I think he is on the verge of petitioning the House of Lords to take back your Title?! Just be aware, hehe!

I am not an opera fan, know nothing about opera and very little about music in general, for that matter. Yet the beautiful voice of Patricia JanecKova does appeal to me, even though she has always stated her goal of becoming an opera singer. To many of her fans, Patricia must have been their Special “K”.

On Dec 18, 2014 Moderator Bogi posted this on his Patricia Janeckova News thread:- “”About her recent win on the international competition Musica Sacra in Rome Patricia wrote: "I was the youngest among all participants, together with one Italian. Most of the particiants already finished study and had experience from professional opera scene".
The most interesting are news about her planned activities for 2015: "The most important is my study, then some appearances in Slovakia and Czech Republic. For example I am acting in Ostrava Jiri Myron Theatre in musical-dramatical staging 'Bouquet', based on motive of Czech writer K.J. Erben. But I am avaiting very enjoyable engagement: summer singing course in Italian Arezzo and attendace on 10 international concerts, arranged by European Music Academy in Rome. I am looking forward also to other singing competitions at home as well as abroad".””
I also came across Garth C’s Feb 23, 2015 post on Jackie Evancho Fan Forum:- ““Here is another little update on Patricia. She has received a scholarship to study music this summer, here is the English translation of the announcement:
Great news! PATRICIA, as the absolute winner of the 2014 "SACRED MUSIC" INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION in ROME, received a scholarship for summer singing courses in AREZZO. AREZZO SUMMER MUSIC SCHOOL & FESTIVAL is organized by ACCADEMIA MUSICALE EUROPEA. It is an intensive Summer Music School with two main branches: Italian Opera & Baroque Music. The real Italian knowledge taught by some of the most Italian and internationally renowned artists in the town where the notes was invented – in Arezzo, one of most beautiful town of Tuscany. Head of the Opera Department is the legendary Baritone RENATO BRUSON, Director of the Specialization Academy at Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Head of the Baroque Music Department is the the Ambassador of the Neapolitan Baroque Music ANTONIO FLORIO, one of the most famous Baroque conductor. Patricia will be given an opportunity to present herself at the courses graduates at 2 concerts conducted by Antonio Florio.
This is the school she will be going to: www.facebook.com/pages/Arezzo-Summer-Music-School-Festival/1412997345632548?fref=tsskvělá “”
By all appearances, Patricia has stayed on course to fulfill her dream of becoming an opera singer. The Summer Study in Arezzo could represent an important step towards that goal. Here’s best wishes and every success for Patricia!

Sandra Bulloc"K", the girl next door, America's sweetheart, philanthropist and recipient of the 2013 Favorite Humanitarian Award, Oscar winning actress with global total box-office take of $3.6 billions, now garners another accolade. She was twice selected as one of People magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People in the World in 1996 and 1999. Now People has made it official that Sandra Bullock, at 50 years young, is PEOPLE's 2015 World's Most Beautiful Woman!
www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2015/04/22/sandra-bullock-named-people-world-most-beautiful-woman/?intcmp=features
www.people.com/people/package/article/0,,20913899_20915288,00.html

Commenting on being selected for this year's cover, Bullock says she just laughed when she heard about the honor. "No, really. I just said, 'That's ridiculous,'" she tells the magazine. "I've told no one ……………… The people I find most beautiful are the ones who aren't trying."
Beautiful inside as well as on the outside, is it any wonder that Sandra is the Special "K" to lots of her fans.
