I am not like the Beachguy who likes to dispense words of wisdom because, let's face it, I don't have any in me, LOL! Just want to use BG's topic to ask whether the majority voting for Scotland to stay in the union is a "wise thing" to do? In other words, is the majority dispensing their "words of wisdom" through their votes? Not about politics or religion here. Just asking the question from the economic, cultural, geographic or any other standpoint. Same as some of the other uninformed here on the west shore of the pond, I know very little of the history of the Scots and the Brits. What stood out to me in the newscast, right before voting opened, is that Britain's economy is about 10 times of that of Scotland's. I had no idea it was that lopsided  , so my natural reaction was it would make good economic sense for the Scots to stay. But what do I know. Perhaps others on this forum could chime in and dispense their "words of wisdom"?! |

Hmmm... Probably the wisest thing would be to avoid political discussion on the forum.
My view is that the majority voted with their heads rather than their hearts.
As an Englishman I am very pleased that the Kingdom remains United.

Beachguy, I am so glad you created this thread in the right section - Off Topic  Well john , they do call me besides other names  " Colorful " BTW thanks to CCUK for having this section as it can make forum more colorful  I am very un-normal which I am jolly proud of BTW #2 , I had a Twilight Zone on other site , it was out of sight , far out , you know only the mild Beachguy , just received a tweet from UK from a ""Sapphire"" I received a album months ago and put it in my closet , forgot it completely , I look at it and find a first "Sapphire"" album so I ordered the other 2 from her and told her "U"" will have MORE . |
