Hey guys!
Public review: www.classical-crossover.co.uk/articles/blog/469-an-evening-with-camilla-kerslake-review.html
It's been FOREVER since I've written a concert review. I have zero confidence in them - the last one I had written was for Pip, and it's cringe worthy writing, so I decided: never again. But I was *so* grateful to be invited to Camilla's private show (I always feel out of place when I attend these things... why the hell was I in the same room as Nikki Chapman?!) that I decided even before I went that I'd do a write up on it, poor writing and all.
I was impressed with her album launch in 2011 and regretted not telling anyone about it (though I was distracted by events at the time). Camilla really doesn't get enough attention when she really should do. She doesn't get much promotion and rather sadly, she doesn't get much attention here either. After last night, I see the extent of how tragic that is. She really is *incredible*.
I had no idea what she had been up to recently, so when I heard she was doing this gig showcasing new material - I was really excited. It meant there was a third album on the way when I wasn't even sure if she was still signed. I also really *really* wanted a studio recording of her singing 'Stay' by Hurts since her performance of it on 'Sing If You Can' is by far my most watched youtube video ever (why hasn't it gone viral and have a million trillion hits?)
What I didn't mention in my review was how disappointed I was that she didn't sing this. Seemed too personal of a preference to bring it up. But know this: I was VERY disappointed that she didn't sing it!
Even so, I'll make do with this for now:
And I also have to thank her for introducing me to Hurts. Love their album!
