I know it mega sucks to start all over, and we're losing nearly 14,000 posts, but life goes on, I guess. If you have joined up again, a big welcome to you. Again. I shouldn't assume everyone knows who I am so... err... I'm Nicola (as the forum name hints) and I'm the editor of the website. XD I like classical crossover music, would you believe? Among lots of other genres. I also like dogs, sushi, chocolate and books.

Big mistake in choosing a free forum host. You could host a board on your existing webhost using free software (www.phpbb.com) and have much more control - like embedding youtube.
Plus, the ad revenue could be yours instead of the host's.

Hello, I'm John and anyone from the old forum will probably have seen one or two of my posts there . I turned to music after a major change in my life just over two years ago, but didn't know then that the music I loved had a special name. Discovering Nicola's website gave my new-found interest an identity and helped it grow. If not for Classical-Crossover.co.uk my CD collection would perhaps have been about a tenth of its present size. Favourite artists that led me here include Hayley Westenra, All Angels and Katherine Jenkins. Significant favourites that I have discovered since include Mary-Jess, Kanon, Sisca, Phillippa Lusty, Giorgia Fumanti and Mario Frangoulis, to name but a few.

Actually our website even the new cut down version is very large and massively intensive on our server, we have reduced our server as much as possible to reduce our ongoing costs and hopefully allow us to keep the website going. There is simply no space left for forums and ad revenue on forums like ours would be negligible and is not worth considering. We as always will have to rely on the kind donations and user purchases to help us pay for the ongoing costs. There is no easy fix for a site of this kind so for us, free forums are better than no forums. P.s. for everyone else, welcome, I am adam, the Admin from the website, I keep everything working, build each version of the website, work on new functions and features, run our server and try to keep this thing going in the background. I am an infrequent poster as I work a lot

free forums are better than no forums. I totally agree! I would miss if the community communication would be lost. I am an infrequent poster as I work a lot Adam, I know that and I esteem that. As a technician I know what does it mean.

Well done for setting up a new forum, Nicola and Adam, as always, much appreciated. John, when are you going to get 'with it' and support my favourite, Margaret Keys? Only kidding, but it would be nice if we could recruit a few more MK fans!

I have two of her albums and vote for her occasionally (just did it again . I even wrote about her on the forum www.classical-crossover.co.uk/forums/28-content/616-margaret-keys.html#1761 but nobody replied. If you can let me know when she is performing anywhere near London, she is certainly one that I would like to hear live.

Adam, do what you want, but you can get good paid hosting for $5 a month and I guarantee the revenue would MORE than pay for it. Does this free host let you make database backups? Most don't.

Nice to come on over. I wasn't too active on the last board, but I do check in on occasion. Keep up the good work, Nicola.

I'm having a proboards deja-vu moment. I started out her after a certain pint-sized c-c- singer compelled someone to start a blog about her here about 15 months ago. It dissolved after certain issues with the subject's "people" couldn't be resolved. Anyway, I didn't have any problem re-registering, and I'm glad to see the same names who did so well with creating the c-c.co.uk 'site here as well. Folks are resistant to change (and there will be some grumbling), but I'm fine with whatever works for you to keep the dialog organized, and continuing. Thanks for all your efforts!

Hey all, just had a play around with the forum settings, going to stick with this scheme for the time being after testing a few different ideas. This is probably the nicest. Anyway will play around some more next weekend when I have some more time to myself.

My name is berta. I am a fan of Mario Frangoulis and others. Nicola, I am encouraging everyone to register for the forum. Because it is different, it will take time to figure out. I gave up the first time I tried, but came back. Thanks for all you do. We tend to take it and the two of you for granted. Not very nice of us.
