One of my dreams has come true in a small way. Nathan Pacheco has released a CD, 'Introducing Nathan Pacheco'. I say a small way because the CD has only 4 tracks. I don't quite understand the reasoning in releasing a CD with only 4 tracks. Is this a test to see how successful Nathan's music will be? Nathan co-wrote two of the songs. I could definitely have done without Nessun Dorma but the other three tracks are very original and I particularly enjoyed, Infinito Amore
I must admit Nathan's voice is similar in range to Mario Frangoulis and I have loved Mario since 2002. I have loved Nathan's voice since I saw him perform on PBS with Yanni Voices.
When he went on tour with Katherine Jenkins all round the UK, I knew good things were going to happen to him!

I'm very happy for this too. I was waiting for this very long . It's not an actual CD, it's an EP (Extended Play). EPs are something between singles and albums. and as you said, they are usually produced to test the popularity.

Nathan recorded a concert on May 15th in California. It will be shown on PBS in August. I am so delighted and so happy for him!
Nicola, I would love to see Nathan added to the site.
I have been told the 'Now we are Free' has no lyrics listed because it is not being sung in an existing language. I found that so hard to believe. Before I heard this, I couldn't identify the language. It sounded a bit Yiddish and a bit Africana which sounds totally strange, I know. I have tried to find information to confirm this but so far, I have found nothing. The song was written by 3 people. Two of the people's names tend to sound of German origin. When I listen to this lovely song, I can't believe I am listening to no known language, it's amazing.
I am wondering since Disney is involved in this production, could this song have a future in a Disney animated film. Perhaps an animated character who no one can understand, who seems to be from another plantet. My imagination might be going on overload but this is so strange, I am trying to find a reason! If you want to talk about creativity, this is beyond the scope of it!

Here's the answer that is posted on a website about Lisa Gerrard. The whole song becomes more bizarre!

Lisa Gerrard sings in what some christians might call 'tongues'. She sings in her own language - it's that simple!

Lisa Gerrard's lyrics in "Now We Are Free" have no language known to man. She uses her own "language" or glosalalia, similar to what young children use to talk or sing or what some pentecostal groups use to pray. At least this is how LG has described her process in many interviews. She has said she makes up the words as she goes along. Sort of like Jazz vocalists when they scat sing. My impression is that she finds doing this doesn't hamper the listener's ability to add their own experience with the song itself - words get in the way, kind of like now, for example.
I verified this in Lisa Gerrard's homepage.
Her stuff gets a tad repetitive after awhile for some (I myself find it absolutely beautiful, but then I'm a crazy Enya fan) you might recall her stuff in the sound tracks of a few movies - namely "the gladiator'....she from Melbourne originally - imagine her as a 'pub act'....but that's how she started out.
She's not a christian in case anyone wants to know...She borrows her sound from a wide range of ideas..including the arabic styles - yep Muslim culture.

Nathan's concert is being shown on all PBS stations in the US this month. The concert was a nice mix of classical crossover and pop. Nathan was in the studio and spoke to the hosts during each pledge intermission. He seems genuine and charming. He sang Danny Boy and Caruso acapello during the intermissions and it was so well done. His new full length CD is due out in about 6 weeks, it's on pre-order now on Amazon. His tour of the US with Katherine Jenkins begins in the US soon. I predict a wonderful musical career for Nathan!

I just received Nathan's CD from my PBS station. I really enjoy listening to it, which I have done several time already. Infinito Amore is a favorite.

I neglected to mention that during the pledge breaks (donation calls), Nathan sang two songs acapella. He sang Danny Boy and Caruso. Without music, the voice is so vulnerable but he sounded amazing. I have never seen an artist do this on a PBS concert.

I've had a crazy amount of e-mails asking me to add Nathan - I don't have time at the moment guys (moving house!) and I have a long queue of artists I promised I'll do next. As soon as I get through them, I'll be sure to add Nathan. The new way fo voting means he won't miss out or be at a disadvantage when it comes to the annual awards.
