en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kokia_%28singer%29Umm, As far as I know Kokia is just Japanese but she DOES have a fanbase in France. Silly wikipedia... Another song from KOKIA. Part of the song is backwards Japanese, Sung to make it sound like a foreign language (to the Japanese ). "Follow the Nightingale" "音の旅人 (Oto no Tabibito)" "Chouwa Oto ~with Reflection" (backwards Japanese here, too.) Jenny♥

A favorite of mine: "悲しくてやりきれない Kanashikute Yarikirenai" - A song from Kokia'a album 'Fairy Dance (KOKIA Meets Ireland)'
The album was recorded in Ireland with Irish musicians. Some songs are Japanese standards with an Irish flair.
"Siúil A Rúin"

Thank you Jenny. Something to listen to if I get time tonight. BTW, I have been watching some of Alan's videos since you mentioned her on the Mary-Jess forum. I have one of her albums now, and two more on the way.

I think the one I have is 'This Life' (working from memory here as I am not at my own computer). It's not all completely to my taste but it was enough to make me want more. 'Voice of Earth' is on order. The other one is a 'Best of' compilation. I expect there will be a considerable overlap, but I can't really tell, as I am totally baffled by the Chinese (or are they Japanese?) track titles.

The 'My LIFE' (you were close enough ) album is alright. There are a few really good songs there. If you got the bought the 2 disc Best Of album, there are 9/20 new songs. If not, then there's only 4/15 new songs. It'll be worth it for the song "悲しみは雪に眠るKanashimi wa Yuki ni Nemuru (Sorrow sleep in the snow)" in my opinion. It's a pretty waltz-y orchestral song. All those funny looking characters are Japanese. ♥

Thanks Jenny. She is original, easy to listen, enjoyable. During my 1st listening I liked most Oto no Tabibito.

"私にできること - Watashi ni dekiru koto" - An uplifting song KOKIA wrote after the earthquake in Japan in 2007- It became very popular in Japan again after last year's devastating quake and tsunami.

I'll just share a few more. These are from the same album as "Oto no Tabibito"
"U-Cha-Cha" (This one's really catchy, Gets stuck in my head. you've been warned!)
"Road to Glory"
"Daybreak" (This one's on a Single off of the album.)
Can you see why she's so difficult to classify? She'll go from pop vocals to eastern vocals to operatic in one song. She covers many different genres of music. She's a bit different but definitely an interesting artist!!

Thanks Jenny. "U-Cha-Cha" is very nice arrangement including untypical instruments and backing vocals.
