[quote This audio file has what I consider the most informative interview of Jackie I've heard. www.knpr.org/audio2011/SON-mp3/111213_j-evanchco.mp3[/quote]I agree that this is one of the best interviews I have heard yet (and I have listened to quite a few over the past year) David Becker of NPR does a fantastic job interviewing both Jackie and David Foster together. He allowed Jackie to answer his questions without interrupting and putting words in her mouth as many of the previous interviewers have been prone to do. What comes out in this interview in my mind is the thing that draws many of us to Jackie. It is not only her amazing talent as a singer and interpreter of great music, but her humility, politeness and "Aw shucks" attitude. Even at the tender age of eleven, Jackie's maturity shows through, an obvious result of her great upbringing and the values instilled in her by her parents. This interview is worth listening to whether you are a big Jackie fan or whether you are a person who has only casually delved into her as a c-c performer.

Wow! This is a must-hear interview.
When DF talks about fooling around with J in the studio with some pop songs... Can you imagine what it'd be like to hear those!

The KNPR interview is without a doubt the best and most informative interview done with Jackie todate. Having David Foster joining Jackie in the interview, supporting her and giving clarity to some things, that up to now have been left to speculation, was a huge plus. I was really impressed with how David revealed the strength and drive by Lisa to protect and nurture Jackie and her childhood life. The way David tells it and the converstaion Jackie revealed with Sarah, it almost seems that Lisa layed out the plan to ensure Jackie does not push it too hard. I'm certain that Sarah would strongly endorse Lisa's approach, and it doesn't get any better than that. This interview is a must listen to for all members of JEFC and for those that wish to get some real insight into Jackie.

Bob and Gordon, guys you've both hit the nail right on the head. Great posts and expresses just what the rest of us feel. I think some interviewers could well take note of how well done this interview was. Kind, considerate to Jackie and very informative. well done.

I've long been curious about the process followed for Jackie to learn her songs. I asked Lisa once on Amazon whether she accompanied Jackie on the piano. She replied that they learn the songs a capella!
This interview confirms what I suspected -- Jackie listens to a recording of a song and then sings it over and over until she gets it down right. Of course, this requires the musical talent to remember and repeat the notes she hears.
