Is David Garrett a giant or are these guys he is with small? I don't know which guys you mean. The photo with Jonathan Ansell? Yes, he is tall. Yes that picture. I am a little behind on the male CC singers. He looks more than tall. He looks huge compared to Ansell and the non named man. |

Hi all,
I just love Legacy by David Garrett. I strongly reccommend getting the DVD, as it makes for great viewing. This really showcases David at his true best and allows him to really show his virtuosity.
I do have a couple of his crossover songs, but I definitely prefer his classical material. I don't know... Sometimes the crossover material of David (well, to me) seems to go a bit too far in the direction of 'Kurt Cobain playing the violin' and just seems too 'dumbed down'.
I'd love for David to strike more of a balance with something which is catchy and accessible, but at the same time complex enough to showcase his talent.
Most pop music is quite simple, as it's designed for voice - so when you start playing it with a violin, you're not going to reach anywhere near the capacity of that instrument.
But like I said, watch Legacy and you'll be very impressed by what David Garrett can do - especially so if you'd only previously seen him do 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' and 'Kashmir'.
And well, the fact that he's ridiculously good looking doesn't hurt either. Lol

legacy is a fabulous album of classical pieces. Rock Anthems has crossover pieces as well as classical.
