I also explained to her that Jackie was not singing the words to "Broken Vow" in French, and that it had been re-written exclusively for Jackie by Lara Fabian with a completely different meaning. I also sent her a translation in English. Best Regards, Russ It's intriguing how a single instrumental composition can produce two entirely different songs, one sad and the other uplifting, yet originate from the same writer. I hope Jackie develops this calibre of writing talent as she matures. In the meantime, enjoy Lara Fabian's "Broken Vow". P. S. "Broken Vow" has the line "I close my eyes", while "Imaginer" has the line "Open the eyes".

Lara Fabian got a lot of kudos for re-writing her own song so that it was age-appropriate specifically for Jackie. A beautiful artist that deserves a lot of respect.

I agree Gordon, the original is a break-up song and the rewritten one is an inspirational song.

I didn't know Lara was on the same bill as Jackie on "David Foster - The Hit Man Returns" at Mandalay Bay 2010. (Unfortunately the sound quality of the video is only so-so.)

We all know that Jackie was "discovered" by her parents at the age of 8, when she suddenly began singing music from Phantom. Lara was also "discovered" in a similar manner abeit at a different age, as she tells in this video.

I was not expecting to find a video of Lara singing classical music, but just as Jackie did, Lara sang the Schubert version of Ave Maria. It was a benefit performance some 14 years ago, based on the google translation of one of the viewer's comments:
"A people who sing for CHUM" (Centre Hospitalier de l'Universite de Montreal) - High Mass of Christmas at the Molson Centre, benefit show worth a quarter million dollars. Producer Guy Latraverse. TV show - VAT, December 18, 1997.
[Note: The video has a 45 second introduction, so unless you understand French, you may want to skip ahead by clicking on the time line] .
