Book readers! <3 Can I ask you for a few questions? It's for a research project at work. Please, at your leisure, comment answering the following questions: a) How do you usually decide what to read next? b) What influences you to pick up a book? c) Does the cover influence you? d) Are you swayed by reviews/recommendations/bookprizes? e) How did you discover your favourite book? f) Are there types of books you will only read, or refuse to read? You'd really be helping me out!! <3 <3 Nic xx

a) How do you usually decide what to read next?
Mainly I read the next books from authors I am familiar with and like. For new books by authors I dont know I go by recommendations from you (nicola). I occasionaly look at books when I am wandering idly in Tesco's or Waterstones...
b) What influences you to pick up a book?
I randomily pick books from sections I like.
c) Does the cover influence you?
Rarely... unless it is a really spectacular cover
d) Are you swayed by reviews/recommendations/bookprizes?
No to reviews and bookprizes. Recomendations only sway me when from a person I know has good taste and knows a good book etc.
e) How did you discover your favourite book?
It was written by an author I had previously read.
f) Are there types of books you will only read, or refuse to read?
Not really. Though I tend to read historical fiction and fantasy the most.

a) How do you usually decide what to read next? Mostly concentrate on authors I know or those within the genres I tend to read the most, though I will generally read most any fiction. b) What influences you to pick up a book? As Adam, I will randomly select books within the sections I am interested in or if I spot an unknown/unread book from an author I like. c) Does the cover influence you? Front cover - never. Rear notes - sometimes. d) Are you swayed by reviews/recommendations/bookprizes? Reviews - Occasionally I will purchase based on reviews, but generally only those from specialised genre websites with a good sized reader participation. Recomendations - Yes, but like Adam, only from people I know mostly. e) How did you discover your favourite book? Lots of favourites but if I was to choose a few of my top reads then - Recommendation / loan from a friend or relative. f) Are there types of books you will only read, or refuse to read? Most of my reading tends to be fiction - Historical (medieval and back), Sci-fi, Sci-Fantasy and Fantasy the most. However, I read most anything (except Mills and Boon type .
