In today's jargon, "guys" includes both men and women. I don't like it so I use the terms "ladies and gentlemen" or "guys and gals."
But then I'm over the hill. lol

Thanks. I consider myself as a very lucky guy. But now I wonder if today's generation really thinks of the term "guy" as making any reference to gender at all. Maybe it has become a neutral term rather than denoting both sexes. Is there a linguistics expert in the house?

Maybe its an Amerincan thing in younger demographics...look at Lindsey addressing her fans www.facebook.com/lindseystirlingmusic/photos/a.227761060589422.61772.132255980139931/803852749646914/?type=1

Yes, sylvester88, it definitely is characteristic of the younger crowd here in America..... Both of my daughters(ages 24 and 20)and all of their friends use it... Even some of the older people here use it too. Nevertheless, everytime I hear it used in a greeting, directed at both sexes, I still cringe a little!

Blokes , the type of current fans by Jackie & Lindsay are not the same , guys is cool with Lindsay fans in Grills , Lounges , etc. but in the fan base of Jackie now it may not go over well , know what I mean ? like shirt and tie , like old guy ben I'm sure , old guy is a ok in some countries

88 , her fan base are mostly younger fans not of the CC song fans so its not a good match example of what saying guys will go over with as surely Jackie will not come out on stage now saying hi guys at concerts . imo , spot of tea time people

No problem really. Just a generation gap in vocabulary.

That's news to me but its ok as I am a Guy but its still not what a Brightman type would say . its still not proper for gals but she could say yins , seems her jolly tweet-tweet bird gets lost a lot
