And made Finland very much known,” said President Sauli Niinistö on Facebook, while referring to Saara Aalto, the 29-year-old Finnish singer and finalist in the X Factor UK song competition. On Sunday, Saara lost narrowly to the English singer, Matt Terry, 23, placing second after singing Björk’s “It’s Oh So Quiet” and the grandiose Whitney Houston tune “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength.” “Thank you people for all the support I’ve gotten. This has been an amazing journey for me. I never thought I could make it this far,” Saara said with tears in her eyes after the winner had been announced. “Every time, you sing, I think I’m looking at a global superstar. You have the potential to be a global superstar. You came in as the underdog but you worked harder than any other contester on this show. You were born to sing,” said Louis Walsh, one of the judges. SHE DID IT! SAARA AALTO MAKES THE X FACTOR UK 2016 FINAL 14by Anthony Ko During Saturday’s Christmas edition of X Factor, she served ho-ho-ho- festive realness as she sleighed the Mariah Carey classic “All I Want For Christmas Is You” before reprising her audition song “Chandelier” from Sia. And on Sunday Saara Aalto advanced to the final of the X Factor UK, making her the first Finnish singer ever to do so. On Saturday she showcased her fun and flashy side with Mariah’s number. Then, with the final just inches away, Saara got serious, nailing her visceral and touching Sia cover. She didn’t just swing from that “Chandelier”. She ripped it off the ceiling, stomped on it and left us quaking in her wake! British viewers clearly responded. .. X FACTOR SEMI-FINAL RESULTS Five After Midnight were the first act announced as making it to the X Factor final, followed by Saara. Her jubilant reaction was as hilarious and off-the-wall as ever, showing just how much she wants this. https://www.instagram.com/p/BNm-f_2h1uP Read more wiwibloggs.com/2016/12/04/saara-aalto-makes-x-factor-uk-2016-final/158579/--- Can Saara Aalto win X Factor 2016? | wiwibloggsNote that this video has published 8 weeks ago 7th of October, 2016!!!www.youtube.com/watch?list=PLuBPg3ImZOjZOvOecaILS_orv_yPfP-Qj&v=pLASTLqn-BE--- The X Factor: Louis Walsh praises Saara Aalto's Christmas song in FINNISHThough the judges thought her Mariah was corny...in a good way. By ADAM MILLER PUBLISHED: 11:24, Mon, Dec 5, 2016 The Finnish-Born act, who has had a rocky ride throughout during her time in the Live Shows, can now boast that she is the first act to land in the bottom two in week one to then make it all of the way to the concluding stage of the competition. In turn, she's officially the most successful act to have landed in the dreaded sing-off in the opening round. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Saara beamed over her impressive accolade: "I think it proves everything is possible. That’s my motto. I believe everything is possible and you can turn everything around. This proves that anything can happen, miracles can happen. I’m so happy and grateful for everyone who has supported me and helped me get this far.” The Xtra Factor host Rylan Clark-Neal, chart-topper Chico and Celebrity Big Brother contestant Katie Waissell all previously shared the title, which they now hand over to arguably its most deserving recipient, Saara. All three of the aforementioned artists entered the show as wild outsiders, and initially seemed to prove the bookmakers right, until they managed to steadily win the public around before becoming scarily close to bagging Simon Cowell's £1million record deal. The X Factor 2016: Saara Aalto could cause ‘worst bookies' upset in history’SAARA AALTO’S chances of winning The X Factor this weekend are causing big headaches for bookies, who face one of their worst ever payouts if she walks away with the crown. By SHAUN KITCHENER PUBLISHED: 17:03, Tue, Dec 6, 2016 | UPDATED: 17:49, Tue, Dec 6, 2016 She was in Finland this week for her Homecoming gigAfter being in the sing-off three times earlier in the series, the Finnish 29-year-old had at one point been priced at 100/1 to win the talent show, but in recent days has been cut right down to become the odds-on favourite at 8/11. Whilst she was priced at 80/1, bookmakers Coral have revealed that one brave woman staked £100 on her going all the way - and stands to win £8,000 on Sunday night. The company has said that it would be “one of their worst pay-outs in history” if their nightmare scenario comes true. “Without having home support and ending up in the sing-off on three occasions, we dismissed Sara Aalto’s chances of winning, a decision that has come back to bite us,” a company spokesperson said. ‘The X Factor’ UK: Little Mix, The Weeknd confirmed for final; latest Saara Aalto storyDECEMBER 7, 2016 BY Now, let’s talk rumors – While The Sun’s gotten a good bit right as of late, we take a little bit of frustration from them saying that Saara’s mentor Sharon Osbourne “snubbed” her by going back to America rather than joining her finalist in Finland for her hometown visit, acting as though she could easily just cancel her gig on “The Talk” for a week and visit a different part of the country. She’s got a job! This is unfortunately what you have when you hire Sharon to be on this show; she’s traveling from one part of the world to the next already, so having her do so again seems almost impossible. Also, shows like “The Talk” need some advance warning, and there was clearly a point on this season where it looked like nobody from the Overs was going to make it to that point. We imagine that Saara and Sharon will get back together later this week to prepare for the final, and everything will be more than fine. X Factor: Brian Friedman’s top five moments from week nine8:30 6th December 2016 by William J Connolly ... 2. Saara Aalto — All I Want For Christmas by Mariah CareyShe’s taking number two also. ...With that performance, it was the best of both world’s. You had a beautiful ballad and had some really fun and up-tempo moments. The colours were great, the singing was great, her little bit of movement was just enough and again she took Mariah’s song and was able to hit every note that Mariah did, and then some. Saara is my book is the one to beat right now! And if she did in, it would be crazy! She would be the first foreigner ever to win and outside of that, she’s the underdog. People didn’t really warm to her at the beginning. Everyone was asking me at the beginning if I liked Saara as she’s really cold. She’s not likeable and all these things that people were saying about her and now she’s the most likeable. I would be so excited for her and I think she would have an award for the biggest turn around. 1. Saara Aalto — Chandelier by SiaI don’t think it’s even questionable who would receive first position after that song. It was a very difficult process to get to what you saw on the stage. ...In the end, we did pull everything off and Saara’s voice is big enough to handle what we give her, and she can own it. She wanted the light-up dress and the dancers on stage. I think it was stunning and the people who do the screens really came through for me, and the lighting was gorgeous. The music, and arrangement of the song. It was one of those performances which will be remembered for years, and to take on a Sia song and to do it justice — but to do your own rendition — as she changed the way Sia sings it, I loved it and it’s definitely number one and I think it got her to the final!
