The most gifted musician I've know personally in my life was a classmate in college. Like me, he revered the iconic guitar player, Chet Atkins, and my college friend could play tunes on his Gretsch guitar as well as I've ever heard Chet Atkins play them. My friend Ed lived on a farm outside Owensboro, Kentucky. Raised tobacco every summer to pay for college. He spent his summer's sitting on the back porch of the farmhouse, playing his guitar; learning new or improving on old licks and riffs; and watching his crop grow. One of the musical thrills of my life occurred while sitting in the living room of that old farmhouse with my friend Ed and 5 of his Kentucky buddies and their guitars. One of those guys arranged music for Chet Atkins. They were all virtuoso guitar players .... and I got to participate with my old Gibson in an incredible jam session with them. Ed went on to become a priest although he was good enough to be a headline musician.
Here's Chet Atkins and Don Mclean: "Starry Starry Night". I think Jackie sang it only once in concert. I hope she tries it again sometime. Well done Chet and Don. I bought the single when I was a kid (the one with the up-tempo version of "Castles in the Air" as the B-side). I'm astonished Jackie has only sung it once in concert. Can't fathom why. She sings it so beautifully like its never been sung before. www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEkw4D00WGM

There is no time limit to the kind of peace you speak of unless you have forgotten what gave it to you in the first place.

Reviving from a weekend with my grandsons who as their mother describes them ... "are impossible to tire out". Their energy level? = Red Bull on steroids.
Beware … as I’m going to bash another Jackie forum this morning. One that seems to be a very chatty place for refugees and expatriates especially from the other proboard that suddenly and mysteriously ended, and the Amazon discussion board. But perusing some of the chat threads there, I find the prevailing speculation about Jackie is similar to that you might overhear at a beauty salon preferred by gossipy, crabby old ladies afflicted with bad hair problems every day of their life. The strangest part is that most of the whiny old ladies there … are men. A new, weirder than ever gender challenge for Western civilization?
It was Mark Twain who deliciously quipped that …. “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.” Jackie might want to borrow that one if she ever needs to personally rebut the seemingly never ending predictions of the impending demise of her career on forums like that …. a career that has somehow survived 8 years … of her fan’s perpetual state of angst about it. Has it had up and downs? What career in the history of existence … hasn’t? Some are able to dust off, get up and move on to greater things. Others … not. C’est la vie.
Maybe the anxiety is caused by lost connection with their adolescent and teen years. Maybe due to a state of denial, because most deliberately want to forget how tumultuous and uncertain those years were for them ……. as they were and usually are most of the rest of the human race. However, as painful as it can be, it’s also the best time in one’s life to make mistakes. To try new directions and paths. The safety net and gps that allows that with redemption is/was our parents and extended family who most still live(d) with and depend(ed) on. Such I believe to be crystal clear ….is Jackie’s circumstance. Oh, I know there’s been much speculation even on this board and most certainly on others that her parents are all about ripping her off. Secretly siphoning funds out of her account for themselves and building their McMansion among many perks ….. on the back of poor Jackie’s slave labor for them. OMG.
Think hard about it. Please. Jackie is a very part time singer. A full time high school student. A full time family member. A full time teenager …. and a mostly typical one at that from what she’s been kind enough to reveal about herself, personally, to her fans … including an outrageously large sock collection. I speculate her career at this stage is resembling what is going on in her real life. Both career and real are, I believe, intimately connected. If you do the math, which parts of her reality proportionately dominates today? That’s right. That’s the correct answer. Now it may not please a bunch of her fans, but she’s being what she is. i.e. A teen.
I love to repeat Jackie’s own profoundly simple answer to the question … “what is your favorite thing about singing”: Answer: “making people happy with what makes me happy.”. Why do some have such a hard time taking her at her word and just being happy with what she does and how she does it? I continue to pray that Jackie never reads the outrageous, trollish crap that is written about her every day by those who purport to be her fans. If it was me, and I learned I had so called fans think about me that way and speculate about me that way … I’d be so demoralized and discouraged I’d quit singing immediately.
Go easy on 'em, Cas43, specially after what you did to poor Beachguy. I wonder if he'll ever fully recover.

Go easy on 'em, Cas43, specially after what you did to poor Beachguy. I wonder if he'll ever fully recover. Those ladies talk down others unfortunate to be outside or absent from their group. But the Internet gives trolls anonymnity inside groups these "laptop downers" wouldn't get in real life.
Real life: Imagine a somewhat drunk Honda motorcyclist bragging about his "ride" in a Biker Bar, not realizing they all had Harley's parked in the back.
Sensing their anger, he said "Uhh, I like you guys - and Harley's too, except I think Harley should make the engine idle quieter!" And you should all put your mufflers back on, straight pipes are non-compliant!
And the bikers all complimented him for his advice
Too many at Amazon and elsewhere have long lost that awe and wonder they had when they first heard that voice. DON'T stay on only because this is your social life (maybe your only social life). Trolls think they speak "advice" from the "High Altar" of their keyboard, but they only rot and fester if they stay. Just leave; better for us. AND better for trolls.
Imagine someday a flood of trolls leaving this and many other forums and going out into the real world and getting pushed away and avoided as their bitterness and negativity show through. Maybe just a few will learn what real fans know; they need the kindness and humility and positiveness (like our singer has!) A Fan is here out of wonderment that has not stopped. Don edited

Oh. I like that post. Especially this part: " A Fan is here out of wonderment that has not stopped". I feel only sadness for those living without awe and wonder and trust in what is not meant to be understood .... but just enjoyed and to be amazed at. I'll never forget Jackie being asked over and over by interviewers what she was doing meant to her. What was she feeling? She answered, over and over, so simply, but very profoundly; with awe beaming from her eyes. "It's just amazing". "I'm amazed". Because it was .... and still is ... especially to those who love and enjoy "amazing" .... and are bound to wonder ... most especially Jackie herself.

Excuse me juxtaposer but you must be confused a bit , Cas43 did nothing to me or could ever if he had a baseball bat , I would squeeze his head between my hands till crap come out his ears , no person on any forum has got the best of me as man to man , if so you would see him here , I had said awhile back I am ending JT , it was the most successful thread on any Jackie forum by miles , I made this forum for two years , 90,000 + views is enough to prove a point .

One of many mind blowing encounters was to find a very small, life changing book that I swear reached out from its hiding place on the bottom of a shelf in an ancient and tiny book store in an obscure little village ... and grabbed my pant leg. The book, Anam Cara, A Book Of Celtic Wisdom by the late Fr. John O'Donahue. Here's one of the nuggets of wisdom that gleam from every page.
"When our eyes are graced with wonder, the world reveals its wonders to us. There are people who see only dullness in the world and that is because their eyes have already been dulled. So much depends on how we look at things. The quality of our looking determines what we come to see." John O'Donahue.

A Jackie peep fan Jonathan Comer states that Jacob brother to Jackie at the time , he ""was gay and liked guys but mom Lisa convinced him to become transvestite "", if this is true it is very not cool and strange as he was yet a minor , I am sure lots of things will come out that will end up hurting Jackie as her peeps will become smaller in count , if you disagree please say so , this is a forum for peeps for Jackie an her career , peep stand up

John O'Donahue a priest with wisdom ? should have preached nuggets to so many other priests indeed , Vincent van Gogh was graced with wonder of eyes but due to mental illness could not see the wonder so the quality of our looking does not always determine what we see , he was looking but could not see , "" Each persons sees with their eyes as they see it "" Beachguy
