Thanks, Curt, for bringing this to our attention!

Operatic singing prodigy Jackie Evancho will perform during this year’s Mending Broken Hearts with Hope Luncheon, hosted by The Shelter for Abused Women & Children, Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort in Naples.
Evancho is best known for wowing America’s Got Talent judges with her pitch-perfect operatic vocals at age 10. The young soprano from Pittsburgh won runner-up and launched her music career, signing with Columbia Records.
Since her television appearance, Evancho has established herself as a legitimate force within the classical crossover genre and participated in many high profile events including the Oprah finale spectacular as well as the lighting of the National Christmas Tree in Washington, D.C., where she sang for President and Mrs. Obama.
Now in its 16th year, the Luncheon attracts more than 700 attendees annually. Highlights include a silent auction and two-day designer boutique, which will showcase vendors from across the country. The boutique is open to the public and will run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Friday, Jan. 15, and 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 16, at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort. Chico’s FAS, Inc., Arthrex, Inc., Joan Loos, Gwyn and Bill Sanford and Candy and Bill Raveis are the founding and signature sponsors for this year’s luncheon. Proceeds from the Mending Broken Hearts luncheon, a signature fundraising event, will benefit The Shelter’s mission to prevent, protect, and prevail over domestic violence and human trafficking through advocacy, empowerment and social change.Today, at 15, Evancho made Billboard Magazine’s list of music movers-and-shakers under the age of 21. Her U.S. shows are also sell-outs and have been taped for broadcast on PBS for the Great Performances series. Jackie’s first PBS special was one of the top pledge producing performances in PBS’ history.
For tickets or more information, contact Susan Utz at 239-775-3862, ext. 261 or email sutz@naplesshelter.org. More information on The Shelter is available at naplesshelter.org

Stealing the Show: Q&A with Jackie EvanchoBy Christiana Keyes Now 15, opera prodigy Jackie Evancho has had a whirlwind career. Wowing the judges and audiences with her performances on America’s Got Talent at the age of 10, this young woman has established herself within the entertainment industry over the past five years. She has performed at high-profile events, including the lighting of the National Christmas tree in Washington, D.C, the Oprah finale, and the opening of the St. Petersburg Economic Forum. Residents of Naples will get a chance to hear the singer’s pitch perfect vocals at The Shelter for Abused Women & Children’s “Mending Broken Hearts with Hope” luncheon. •Jackie Evancho will sing at the Mending Broken Hearts with Hope Luncheon Friday, January 15. Her appearance will be one of the highlights of The Shelter for Abused Women & Children’s perennially popular event at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples. Tickets cost $350. For more information, call 239-775-3682, ext. 261, or visit naplesshelter.org.
NI: How did you get involved with The Shelter’s event?
Evancho: They reached out to my management team and asked if I would be a part of their luncheon, and after learning more about what The Shelter was and what they do, I was excited to get involved. It’s a really great honor to help out.
How did you get started on this career path that you are on? When did you realize you wanted to sing opera?
I’ve always loved singing, and as a little girl I would always be singing little songs like “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.” It was after I saw the movie Phantom of the Opera with my family and fell in love with the music that I began singing those songs around the house. My mom asked if I would want to do a local talent competition and I did. From that point forward it was about trying to get seen. Then America’s Got Talent came around, and that’s where I had my big break.
You’ve done a little bit of crossover into the pop music scene; any interest in further delving into that or any other musical genre?
I really enjoy having variety in my music. I know that I will stay true to my classical crossover sound but I definitely want to experiment in different areas in the future.
Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years? Any career and personal goals that you have in mind?
I want to be a multi-tasker. I want to continue with my career as a professional singer, but I also would like to be a model, and maybe get into some acting; you never know.

Len provides this setlist and tells us that Jackie's performance was professionally recorded; if so, perhaps we can look forward to hearing and/or seeing it in the future: •Made to Dream •To Believe •Memories •Your Love •Je T'aime •The Impossible Dream •Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again

"Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" has not been recorded on any of Jackie's albums. I welcome any correction if I am mistaken.

That's the ticket .... and well worth the price of one to this concert for a very worthy cause. Interesting that she's doing "To Believe". I think it's been several years since she's performed it. I'm going to guess it was requested by one of the benefit's sponsors. Its lyrics fit the purpose of the benefit nicely.

Not a clue. Perhaps someone else can tell you. I don't either. But does whether she was paid or not matter to anything? Maybe her expenses, which is common practice. What matters to those who like Jackie is that it sounds like it was a great gig.
