Quite disturbed this morning by what I'm seeing on Jackie's Facebook page. FanArt? "FanArt. Have you ever drawn a picture of me?" Selfies? "I miss taking pre-show selfies?" Uhhhhh. I'm getting a bit creeped out by it. This is trending to a disturbing form of worship. Self worship?? Anybody else here bothered by this? If this is "success" and what it brings to an extraordinarily gifted 14 year old, with a great family .... Not what I want to see for this young lady.
I wish for the Jackie that was always "amazed" (humbled) by what was happening when she sang and the response it got.
I wish she'd get back to the classics. This girl could be destined to be the next decade's Sierra Boggess; Rebecca Luker; Shirley Jones; Julie Andrews, et al. She was on that track. Now, I'm not so sure. I think this whole thing needs to slow down so she can concentrate more on being just a good person ... than a teen heart-throb ... drooled over by fawning, obsessed fools.
A 14 year old cannot possibly be psychologically, emotionally or spiritually equipped well enough yet to process all of this adulation and celebrity in a healthy way. Way too much going on for most people to handle, let alone an adolescent, regardless of how musically gifted, talented and smart she is. Anybody else thinking like me about this?
Yes, and although it does not really disturb me, the Evancho family is on my prayer list....

I see some older fans still wanting Jackie to sing older songs or holy songs , DUH !! that's not working guys , they can not accept her moving on , it like the end of their world , sad people , the team imo was waiting till she was older but now must make choices for a album that MUST sell , so what will it be , post it here if the courage fans , I say pop , that's P+O+P Ps I am not saying it's best or what I want or team wants but there are times when things need to be changed even when not 100% in to it , this society now wants lively artists as Class is going away in the USA real fast and you do or die in sales

Wow. Maybe a discussion developing here on what I think is supposed to be "Jackie Talk". A forum for discussion? Right? No?? Maybe?
Yes. I admit to being one of Jackie's "older fans". One of many, I think. Very many. Not only in the Western European and U.S. market, but one that spans the world. Russia, Taiwan, Japan and any place that is able to view YouTube videos. A worldwide market for "music". Good music. Not the raucous, irritating noise so readily and mistakenly called ... music today.
Maybe an oddball, but I'm a 71 year old that is brought to tears while listening to Alan Jackson's, Remember When and Green Day's, When September Ends. Who loves listening to Kurt Cobain, Aha, Abba, 3 Dog Night, The Platters, Mary Chapin Carpenter, The Cars, a Beethoven Sonata or Concerto played by Rubinstein or Horowitz, Doc Watson and Chet Atkins, Sierra Boggess, Ian & Sylvia, Duke Ellington, Allison Krauss, Gershwin, Ukelele Ike, Jim Croce, Fats Waller, Jackie Evancho ........ My list of those I am a fan of could extend to infinity. Jackie is one of those at the top of my list.
Music, to me, is the language of heaven. One of our earthly connections to that ethereal dimension. To the infinite. I think maybe our best. What is music to you?
What is it about Jackie that so endears her to so many, in so many places, in such variety of culture? She seems able to cross so many borders and boundaries that few others are able to. What is it that you find unique about her? What is her appeal?
David Foster, as most know was Jackie's earliest and in my opinion, best mentor and guide. He said it best. "I just know people are going to love this".
Where businesses or performers get into trouble is when they start to tinker with the fundamentals. Try to fix "what "ain't broken". Change ... for the sake of change. In my 71 years, I've seen it happen over and over again. And it always leads to just more trouble and often disaster.
Jackie was on the right track with "classics". Good music. Great songs. The "world" loved her renditions and her for them. A world who can appreciate good music which she was blessed to chose and sing and differentiate from the crap. The raucous, worthless, irritating noise. That to me was the amazing thing about Jackie. One so young and who you'd expect to have an immature taste in music .... surprised and delighted a worldwide audience hungering for, missing desperately ..... good music .... the language of heaven.
That's my two cents. Love to hear others, especially those who disagree with me. Let's talk ... as the late Joan Rivers used to say. Anybody?

Good literature, art and music all have a divine source---the Root of Immortality.
When it comes to vocal music, some voices have a quality that resonates profoundly with the human soul. Miss Evancho's voice does this.
However, not everyone can "hear" this quality. Some listen and are annoyed. Others simply do not care for it. But those of us who can hear it are sent to a place deep within the heart which often brings tears and intense emotion. This connection with a voice so sublime provides a cathartic release for the human soul, and, more importantly, points to something beyond the mundane life most people live.... It points to a promise made to us long ago, which, when fulfilled, heals every wound and brings peace to the human soul.

Hey a live one in cas 3 , ok lets talk , i'm going to keep it on down to earth some , I believe music is made for our enjoyment and profit for makers of music , it's the entertainment industry from humans here , the world must buy a music for it to be made and 50,000 copies will not do it , the producers of music need a botton line profit , Jackie may need to change to SELL which is the reason why a album is made, not to somehow save the world in a dream , I didn't know heaven could talk will the Duke of Earl be there ? , this is earth so if she needs to sell if not she needs to change imo , Yes I love her Lovers , Starry starry night etc.kinds of sounds BUT if in todays society it is not accepted by sales then change may be in order , Miss Swift made millions in country but changed to pop and is even doing better , that's how to have long career , at times change can be helpful , at 14 Jackie is not making 97% of career moves imo so this Jackie talk is nothing against her personally but adult opinions and maybe could be helpful as she needs Honest feedback other then Positive Perfect , perfect , we are here FOR Jackie

Gee whiz ben , you make me feel like I just was at church in Utal , where is my Monks disc , many many hear no promise, peace must come from ones self in mind and soul in total silence , music was not always here on earth, I love the sound of my butterflies being released as people hear what they want to hear , some tune me off but I gladly listen to all

Ben. Have you read Dr. Eben Alexander's, Map of Heaven? If not, your profoundly beautiful (and very accurate) comment above is in sync with the perspective of one of world's foremost neuro-surgeon's and scientists. Fascinating read.
To the person who replied to "the live one": I'm John. Couple thoughts from an earthly perspective. I presume that whoever is managing Jackie's career and responsible for producing her latest record (Awakening) is trying to increase her market share. Trying to make more money by appealing to future rather than the past (geezer market).
But let me ask. How did her first two albums do: Dream with Me and Foster produced album, Songs from the Silver Screen. .... compared to Awakening? All classic songs. I believe they went platinum. Yes? Maybe too early to tell yet. But New Age, change-in-direction and young-market-targeted Awakening is ...... a clunker ...... IMO. Am I hearing right that sales are kind of brick-walled at around 50k? Maybe her upcoming concerts will kick that up.
I'm a conservative. I believe in building on ..... standing-on the-shoulders of what is best. Not impetuously changing what doesn't need it. Innovating for the sake of something called ..... progress which usually is more accurately .... regress.
Jackie has gotten this far ( a lot far) based on her uniquely beautiful renditions of great songs. From Nessun Dorma to It's a Wonderful World. A 10 to 14 year Catholic girl from a little suburb of Pittsburg performing the best renditions of them ever. Absolutely amazing stuff. IMO, the world is craving more. If it wasn't ... she would not have two platinums hanging on her wall at home.
Gotta scoot. More please......

I quoted you , I only saw cas 3 , so it's John , ok thanks, i'm Ron , I believe all her accounts where and are by her team ,lots of mistakes also , not her in person but other then a few , it was them pushing album down peoples throat for 4 months , poor PR in fact , Jackie will have a very good future with the youth movement when they decide to release her if one is in sales then one must know what the market will buy , the market said no to this album so indeed it needs to change maybe not wanting to but needs to

John, Miss Evancho has stated that each song selected for the "Awakening" album "spoke" to her... Jackie has a wide variety of musical tastes, which certainly include songs that may evoke horror from classical purists.
Decisions are being made for Jackie at present because of her age. Also, the intense interest by the public in a ten-year-old who could sing opera arias is over. We all know that novelty sells. But now, Miss Evancho must make a living, not as someone who is merely a novelty, but as a serious singer who is quickly becoming an adult among many others who are excellent artists. Her material success depends largely upon a fickle public, in my opinion. But her personal success, and happiness, will always depend upon her integrity as a person, and her love for singing.
In answer to your question about "Map of Heaven:" I have not read it but I am happy to learn that you have apparently contemplated the idea of "heaven." For me, heaven is a redeemed soul who shares her fruits with others...
Happy reading!

Beachguy, yes, in the silence we can find peace. But only when we have personal contentment that comes from acknowledgment of divine things and obedience to Wisdom.
With that in mind, music can be merely a distraction, or, a doorway to heavenly things.
May music always provide you with inspiration!
