Another trio of tenors enters the arena. I sense that there is wind of change beginning in the music world. People seem to be looling for something different than rap, hip hop, rock pop and other genre that so dominates the younger listener. From the expressions on the faces of the predominantly young crowd, I'd say they the young are starting to recognize the beauty in classical crossover. I loved the group. It's nice to see the audience appreciate great voices.

After I saw this post, I looked for them on America's Got Talent. I was impressed with Fernando Varela's voice, who is from Puerto Rico. Then I saw he was on the Nicola's list for possible new artists. I found the young man from New York to have the weakest voice. On their first appearance, one of them was Asian. On the second appearance, he had vanished and been replaced by a black singer with a much better voice. They have been voted on and will now have America vote for them to continue. I can't imagine how three men can come together with no previous connection and form a trio. But it seems the trend is for groups rather than solo performers. Maybe audiences like the different range of voices combined to hit the low and hits notes and create more drama. I hope they do well. I always love to see American audience's embrace classical crossover!

Josh Page is the trio singer from New York and has dueted with Josh Groban and was on a mini tour with Jackie Evancho. In some of his other performances his voice seems much more powerful than what has been seen on AGT. It is unfortunate that the singer from South Korea had to withdraw because of some technical visa glitch. I believe he was a better fit as he like the other two original members are truly CC singers. The new addition is a trained professional opera singer and has performed nationally in operas. It would really be nice if the South Korean singer can rejoin with Fernando and Josh. The harmony of Fernando and Josh in the first audition was perfection and the new singer will not be able to achieve that type of harmony with his significantly more powerful voice. It is only my opinion but I think the new addition is a mismatch.

Heartsong:
Having listened/watched their second performance together it is easy to see that additional practise together has allowed Sean to adapt a more CC mode and easing off on the mic to allow a softer volume and blending with Josh and Fernando. Can't help but think things will even get better if they are able to move on. Rather disappointed with the judge from the UK not liking them that much. She was totally out of step with the other judges and almost the entire audience. Perhaps it is time Immigrtion reviewed her visa like they did for Hannah.
At any rate I have no qualms about agreeing with your post.

I thought Forte did a great version of 'Somewhere'. I'm really happy the American audience put them through to the next round. I don't vote in these competitions, but if they do as well the next time they perform, I'm going to vote for them!

The Star Telegram article was very interesting. I can't imagine that an opera singer who's schedule is booked to 2015 would be interested in AGT, but I'm delighted that he is. Even if they don't win, I do hope they get the recording contract he mentioned.

I received an e-mail joke yesterday about three men who met at a bar, a Puerto Rican, a New Yorker and a South Korean. There was a video link. The person who sent it to me knows nothing about classical crossover music but thought these 'guys' are great. It was the video of Forte before Sean Panikkar joined the group. So they have gone viral. They probably won't win but I think they will get a record contract.
