Rhydian and Annelies On April 7th, just over a week ago, I made the trip through the Derbyshire Peak District to the spa town of Buxton. The magnificent Opera House was the venue for the final night of Rhydian’s tour, with supporting acts Tenors of Rock (TOR) and Annelies. TOR opened the show and soon enough they were joined by Rhydian, before leaving the stage to him. Finally, towards the end of the first half, Annelies (the reason for me being there ) appeared to sing a lovely duet, Per Sempre, with Rhydian Annelies went on to sing two solos – the amazing ‘Weightless’ and ‘Bring Him Home’ from les Mis. A change of suit for Rhydian in the second half as he and TOR shared the stage again. Annelies returned for another duet – Wheels of a Dream and a final solo – Glorious, which was new to me, but lived up to its name Another change for Rhydian, back for a powerful performance of ‘Music of the Night’, and the dramatic Toreador’s song from Carmen.
