www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqEc4mbG24Y. Here's a video of me singing "Neath The Southern Moon", Adah's solo from "Naughty Marietta". I'd especially like comments in this thread from someone who's familiar with "Naughty Marietta".

Okay, please forgive my brutal honesty, but I don't want to patronise you. With all good intentions:
Your high notes (which are mostly flat) sound really shrill - you simply cannot sing them. It sounds like you are screaming/shouting them. You get in tune when you singer lower notes some of the time but ultimately, I do not believe singing to be your natural calling in life.
I am not meaning to be harsh - just honest. <3

Maybe I just need a bit more training. OK, a lot. I'm out of practice. And besides, when I sing other songs I'm fine. And I'm hardly tone deaf. Nicola, was I in tune for the other video? The thing is, I really want to be a good singer. BTW, is it possible to know if your own high notes are shrill?
And the other thing is, I don't want to accidentally turn out like Florence Foster Jenkins.
