I watched via TV. It was interesting that you say they backed off her mic. That would partly explain why her voice seemed to get lost in the background.
The Tonight Show has made a big production out of the background for her appearances, rather than have her use a pre-recorded track as is what other programs such as "The Talk" and "The View" do. Generally, the Tonight show does a great job of producing her segment, but this time, her voice seemed to get lost in all the backup. I'm glad she got a standing O.
It seems the Tonight Show's arrangement was bigger than her CD version.

It seemed to me that the entire ensemble was not too happy about something, no smiles from anybody at first. When Jackie sang the second stanza, she seemed to come alive and the remainder of her performance was superb. Did anybody else sense this?

I have no clue how these appearances are arranged but I would have liked to have seen Jackie interviewed & given more time than O'Reilly or the sweater guys. Jackie looked great & sounded great. What a ride !!!

Hi Folks. I've just watched Jackie's performance on the 'To-night Show' and I would have to agree that this was not her best performance. If you watch her sing the same song from 'The Grove 'you will see a huge difference. She was really smiling a lot as if she really enjoyed singing the song there. The 'To-night show's performance looked, how can I say, an effort. Maybe she has done too much this week and it's starting to tell. I mean she's only 11 and what a hectic week. And check out her schedule for the rest of the month. Whew!! too much I reckon for a little girl They will have to be carefull they don't burn her out. It's not only her performances that will wear her out it's all the travel time too and from the different venues around the states, the preparation for all the intereviews etc. It may be they have overestimated her ability to cope with it all. She would be such a willing little person wanting to please everyone and probibly wouldn't want to complain and that may be being overlooked. We all know that her paraents keep a weather eye on her but it just seems it's getting just a little too much. I may be completely wrong.Just a thought.Any further comment on this?

Amigo, I think you are right on. Since these comments, Jackie appeared in the America's Choice performance with a star-studded affair on national television. She sang "Angel", and the performance started with Jackie not connecting with the audience. She looked down for about half the performance and her voice sounded just a little hoarse. I believe a combination of a lot of work, travel, and time away from home, coupled with the beginnings of a cold or flu, may be to blame as well. However, in the America's Choice performance, she seemed to come alive when the choir began to sing with her. She finished very strong and received a great standing ovation. A little R&R and she should be fine.

From my seat, I could see that there was some backstage scrambling going-on just before the sound-stage doors opened for the music segment (one of the production people held a person-sized access door to the right-side of the main doors open for a few seconds). Members of the Ricky Minor band had to move from the other side of the studio (where I was sitting) onto the stage, and get set with a second set-up for the bass, keyboards and percussion. Whatever caused the delay, it did seem that it took some time for everyone (including Jackie) to settle.
I also was disappointed that Jackie wasn't an interview guest. The "odd Christmas gifts" segment didn't really work well (the dogs wouldn't "poo", nor would the car follow the laser beam), and the ugly sweater guys were failures (even though the audience all received a copy of their book). Jackie would have been a lot more fun. She had already won-over Bill O'Reilly as well, who was grinning as he watched her sing, and hurried to congratulate her afterwards. As I wrote in my quoted-above post, he did the third promo recorded, and ad-libbed "...and she'd GREAT!"

Hi Max, thanks for the response. I noticed in America's Awards clip that she was in fact looking down a lot. You may or may not recall some time back there was a report that she had a bad experience after one of her performances because of excessive 'dri-ice' floating about. I'm wondering if this has become a small issue with her? Also noticed that she keeps brushing her hair back, she tends to do that a fair bit if you notice in some of her performances. Maybe it's a sort of 'nervous gesture' or pherhaps she needs to have her hair pinned back. If you look at her schedule for the rest of the month she has 4 concerts and maybe some more 'appearances' in between. I think some R&R could well be on the cards before she does indeed come down with something. believe she has a couple of concerts scheduled in January in Japan. She will need to be fit for those. We loved her performance the other night and she really looked great in her outfit. A wonderfull little person and we all want to see her keep smiling. She just brings the place alive.

I just heard that Jackie's school wont let her attend any more when she's home. She just confirmed this on 'twitter'. She has to do cyber school only from now on. A bit rough we thought but maybe the media are paying too much atttention to her when she goes to school and it may be distracting for the other students?? I only hope she still gets to see her friends without too much media attention. I guess that's the price you pay for fame??

I made an observation that Jackie performed very well and professional like in her recent performances on the Tonight Show and American Giving Awards but to me she looked a bit tired. I commented that her tiredness, if true, could be affected by getting less than perfect sleep from sleeping in so many different beds and from the unrecognized stress from being away from family and friends. Eventually this will catch up and perhaps have some affect.
I believe my comments, which were made on the JEFC forum, were broadly grouped with some other comments, labelled negative and subjected to a rather shocking outburst from Mike Evancho and some other more fanatical fans. I consider my comments to be less offending than the preceding comments here, which I do not consider any of them offensive or negative.
The lesson that I have learned is that one should post only comments that clearly indicate the positive and praise Jackie-et-el or remain silent.

Yes Gordon, you fell into the same trap that many did and paid the price from Mike E. Jackie's Facebook page is all about encouragement to Jackie and anything else is classified negative. It is not a discussion forum. Mike monitors it very closely as you found out. They are trying to protect her from stuff that she might just take on board and take to heart. At her age she is very impressionable and they don't want her subjected to anything that might effect her performances, which is understandable. I can see where Mike is coming from. It's Jackie's page which she reads and only positives will be tolerated. Your intentions, and others, were obviously honourable but were said at the wrong forum. It's only forums like this that you can air you candid opinions etc without fear of retribution. A lot of people state-side read these forums and believe it or not, the messages do get back to the powers that be, which I guess is the safest way, don't you agree.? Nice post though Gordon, keep plugging away. cheers.

I do believe that Mike E. is stating that Jackie is Mike and Lisa's responsibility which it is and they don't need backseat drivers trying to tell them what to do. Some people just can't take the hints and now they are getting to the point of being 'not so nice' in their warnings of butt out. Fans don't need to be obsessed about every note she sings just enjoy the show

Mike doesn't have hours every day to carefully figure out which fans are saying what, so it is not surprising that a comment might get lumped in with other comments, and he is also jetting around and is probably tired. I think it's a good idea to keep it upbeat on Facebook and the Fan Club. BTW, I don't think the fog machine is bothering Jackie - she is used to fog on the TV appearances, and some of her best performances have been given with the fog machine - but I did think she might be a little tired - she had already undergone the exciting red carpet and interviews, and it might have been a very long day.... But even so, she was lovely and any Jackie newcomers were no doubt impressed by her vocal gifts.
I am looking forward so much to her concert in Atlantic City. Go Jackie! Everyone, have a heavenly Christmas season!
