I have just spent a very enjoyable evening at Nottingham's Royal Concert Hall watching Cantamus in concert. According to the programme, Cantamus Girls Choir consists of 40 girls aged between 13 and 19. I counted several times and I am sure there were 41 of them (though I couldn't be sure of their ages). The first half was mainly Christmas carols and choral items, many of which I knew (though there were only a couple of really well known songs) and some which were new to me. Some were sung by the full choir, others by a smaller ensemble of between 15 and 20 (the number kept changing) and some by the "Training Choir" - 36 girls from the age of 9 upwards. The second half started in similar vein, but then the training choir presented a medley of songs from Mary Poppins, followed by the main choir with The Sound of Music. Finally both choirs joined together for 'White Christmas' and 'We wish you a Merry Christmas'. Many of the pieces had different arrangements from what I had heard before. I love hearing voices singing in harmony and the sound the girls made was just wonderful .

I'm working. Love Cantamus though. Saw them at the RAH and they took my breath away. <3
